Quick answer

Personify Financial is an online installment lender (Applied Data Finance, LLC, San Diego) that lends $500–$15,000 at 36.00%–179.50% APR over 12–48 months, funds the next business day, and operates in 27 states. It now also works as a lead generator, passing declined applicants to partner creditors at 6%–35.99% APR. This site is not Personify. We explain the terms and let you request a loan from our own lender network.

Fast money is easy to find. Fair terms take ten minutes of reading.

Personify-style loans are approved in minutes and funded the next day. The same speed makes it easy to sign a 150% APR agreement without noticing. This site exists so you notice — and so you can compare offers from several lenders before you decide.

Why people use this site

Know the terms before you sign anything

Triple-digit APRs are legal and common in subprime installment lending. The difference between a manageable loan and a painful one is usually the amount, the term and whether you pay it off early.

Real APR, real math

We show Personify's published 36%–179.50% range and what each tier costs on a $3,000 loan — not a vague "rates may vary".

Current state list

27 states as of October 22, 2026. Personify stopped lending in New Mexico and South Carolina — many review sites still list them.

One request, many lenders

Our form reaches a network of lenders, including subprime installment lenders, so you can compare instead of applying one at a time.

No surprises

Soft inquiry to see offers. No fee to request. You read the full agreement before you sign, and you can walk away.

Notebook, calculator and coffee on a desk, ready to compare loan costs

Four products a bad-credit borrower actually gets offered, with the numbers that matter side by side. Personify sits between payday lending and prime credit; whether that is a good deal depends entirely on which of the other three you could get instead.

Who should — and shouldn't — use a Personify-style loan

Personify Financial exists for a specific person: someone with a credit score in the 500s or low 600s, steady verifiable income, a checking account, and a bill that can't wait. For that person, a 12–48-month installment loan at 60%–120% APR is usually cheaper than rolling a payday loan, and it reports to the bureaus, so on-time payments help rebuild credit.

It is the wrong tool if you can qualify for anything under 36% APR. A credit-union personal loan, a secured loan, a 0% intro credit card, or even a payment plan with the provider you owe will cost far less. Lenders in our network cover both ends of that range, which is why we recommend requesting offers and comparing rather than assuming.

Rent-a-bank controversy. Consumer groups (NCLC, Consumer Federation of America) have criticised Personify's use of Utah-chartered First Electronic Bank to offer loans above state rate caps, and the CFPB complaint database contains complaints about high cost and collections. Personify holds an A+ BBB rating and 4.8/5 on Trustpilot. Both facts are true; weigh them yourself. Is it legit? → · Reviews →

People also ask

Personify Financial, question by question

Is Personify Financial a direct lender?

Only in Georgia. Everywhere else Personify now describes itself as a platform: your request is reviewed for a loan by First Electronic Bank (Utah) at 36%–179.50% APR, or for an offer from a "Participating Creditor" at 6%–35.99% APR if you don't qualify with the bank. Personify markets, underwrites and services the loan; the bank is the lender of record. In 2026 Personify added a Lead Generator and Information Sharing Disclosure saying it may be paid by those creditors for referrals. That makes Personify structurally similar to this site — with the difference that Personify's own bank-partner loan is first in line.

What credit score do you need for Personify?

There is no published minimum. Personify says it "looks beyond the credit score" at income, bank activity and payment history. Third-party reviewers report approvals in the low 500s. In practice the score decides the price, not the decision: higher-600s profiles tend to be routed to sub-36% participating creditors, while low-500s profiles see the top of the 36%–179.50% range.

How long does Personify take to approve and fund?

Automatic approvals are instant. If the system needs documents, the application pauses until you upload them and expires if you don't. Once you e-sign by 11:59 PM Central, Personify deposits the next business day; it says up to two business days, and weekends and bank holidays push the date. A minority of reviewers report longer waits when income verification fails and documents are requested.

Does Personify do a hard credit pull?

Not to show offers — prequalification is a soft inquiry. A hard inquiry occurs when you accept an offer and the lender finalises underwriting. Some SuperMoney reviewers describe a hard pull before approval; read the screen you are agreeing to before you click accept.

How does the Rate Reduction program work?

Personify publishes the rules of its Rate Reduction program, and they are specific: eligible loans (APR above 35.99%, term longer than six months) get a 2-percentage-point APR cut after every six consecutive months of on-time payments — that is 6 monthly, 12 semi-monthly or 13 bi-weekly payments. Earned reductions are permanent even if you later pay late, but a late payment restarts the six-month clock for the next cut. The APR will not go below 24.00%, and the reduction takes effect the day after the qualifying payment. Personify can change or end the program at its discretion.

Worked example: a 48-month loan at 120% APR with perfect payments would step to 118%, 116%, 114% and so on — eight cuts over the term, ending around 104%. Meaningful, but not transformative; it does not turn a subprime loan into a cheap one. Paying off early saves far more.

What happens if you don't pay Personify?

Late fees per your agreement, an NSF fee if a debit bounces, negative reporting to the credit bureaus after 30 days, and eventually collections — handled either by Personify, Personify Loan Services, or a third-party agency. Personify's FAQ says borrowers who can't pay should contact their servicer because "help may be available". The loan is unsecured, so there is no asset to repossess, but the lender can sue for the balance in most states. Call before a payment is missed, not after.

Personify vs. a payday loan vs. a credit-union PAL

Three products a bad-credit borrower actually gets offered. A payday loan is $100–$1,000, due in two to four weeks, at an effective 300%–600% APR — cheapest only if you repay on the first due date, which most borrowers don't. A credit-union Payday Alternative Loan is $200–$2,000 at no more than 28% APR with a $20 fee cap, but requires a month of membership. Personify sits between: more money and more time than payday, far more expensive than a PAL. If you can get the PAL, get the PAL; if the choice is payday or Personify, Personify.

Why do some people call Personify predatory?

Because of the price and the structure. Consumer groups led by the National Consumer Law Center argue that routing loans through a Utah bank lets Personify charge rates that would be illegal for a non-bank lender in states with rate caps — Arkansas (17%), Montana (36%), Virginia (36% + fees), New Mexico (36%, where Personify has since stopped lending). Personify's position is that bank partnerships expand access to credit. Both are arguments about law and policy; neither is an allegation that borrowers don't get their money or that the terms are hidden. The terms are on the agreement. Read them.

What we verified, and when

Every lender figure on this site comes from personify.com's Rates, Terms and Licensing page, FAQ and contact page, checked on October 22, 2026. Where a review site and the lender disagree — state count, fee mechanics, loan minimums — we go with the lender's current page and say so. Public review data comes from Trustpilot and the BBB; complaint and policy context from the CFPB database, the NCLC's 2023 FDIC comment letter and NPR's 2022 reporting.
